About Us

Our Mission and Approach
Mission
Our mission is to develop innovative, nature-inspired technologies that restore and enhance underwater habitats, accelerating coral recovery and resilience in the face of climate change.
Our History
Hybrid Reef Solutions originated from research at UC San Diego and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, focusing on new methods for coral reef engineering and restoration. Early funding from DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and UC San Diego's Office of Innovation and Commercialization enabled the development of our advanced biomaterials and reef structures. Today, our proprietary, patent-pending solutions are being scaled to address the urgent need for effective marine restoration and enhancement tools.
Vision
Our vision is to create a future where technology enhances nature, creating thriving coral reefs that protect coastlines, support fisheries, and sustain communities worldwide.
Our Technology
By fusing expertise in nanoengineering, bioengineering, marine biology, and environmental engineering, we create nature-inspired solutions and biomimetic materials to restore and sustain marine ecosystems. Our cutting-edge technologies are designed to enhance coral growth, improve reef resilience, and support biodiversity. Scalable and adaptable, these solutions integrate seamlessly into diverse marine environments, addressing critical challenges in restoration efforts.
